Robotic Grizzlies Win 1st Place!

Flat River Academy started a rookie First Tech Challenge team which includes 10 middle schoolers. First Tech Challenge teams must design, build, and program a robot to play a specific game. This year's game was called Freight Frenzy and included challenges such as being able to pick up 2 inch weighted cubes, wiffle balls and rubber ducks. Then placing them in scoring hubs. Their robot had to overcome challenges such as barriers on the field and a carousel that they needed to spin. During game play teams are randomly assigned an alliance partner that they play the game with against another alliance. This partnership changes with every qualifying match. We had 5 qualifying matches to rank high enough to get into the finals. Then with our alliance partner (14040 - Concord Academy Petoskey), we were able to win 1st place!
